HOTEL EXECUTIVE

George Adel Appointed as The Area General Manager for Marriott International’s W Philadelphia and Element Philadelphia Downtown

USA, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. April 02, 2026

W Philadelphia and Element Philadelphia Downtown - both part of Marriott Bonvoy's portfolio of over 30 extraordinary hotel brands - announces they have appointed George Adel as its Area General Manager for both properties. His appointment continues his distinguished journey with Marriott as he joins the property from the W Hotels brand's iconic W South Beach.

In Adel's new role with both properties, he will oversee all aspects of operations, including guest experience and satisfaction, hotel administration, internal and external hotel visibility, and executive leadership, while driving continued growth and development across the complex. Additionally, he will focus on deepening the hotel's connection to Philadelphia's creative, culinary, and cultural communities through locally driven programming and partnerships, with a strong emphasis on music-forward activations in the Living Room bar and additional property outlets.

For W Philadelphia, specifically, it also marks the next phase of the hotel's evolution as the city's boldest luxury lifestyle hospitality destination. With many upcoming cultural milestones in 2026 for the City of Brotherly Love on the horizon, including America's 250th Anniversary, the World Cup and the MLB All-Star Game, Adel will work closely with the team to ensure the hotel is at the forefront of these historic moments, delivering culturally resonant programming, high-impact partnerships, and elevated guest experiences that position W Philadelphia as the definitive epicenter of the city's global spotlight.

"My time with the W Hotels brand has prepared me well for this next chapter, and I am honored to join W Philadelphia and Element Philadelphia as the Area General Manager," said Adel. "W Philadelphia is a truly unique offering, bold in design and deeply connected to the city's creative energy. I am eager to lead a dynamic team dedicated to delivering inspired, elevated moments that reflect the W Hotels brand and Philadelphia's unmistakable character, creating an environment that energizes and inspires our associates and empowers them to deliver exceptional experiences that keep guests eager to return."

During his tenure at W South Beach, Adel led the team through several high-impact initiatives, including a major façade project. His leadership played a key role in the property earning the Hotel of the Year award in 2024, while also driving strong guest satisfaction and associate engagement results.

"The foundation I developed at W South Beach has prepared me well for this next chapter at W Philadelphia, and I'm equally excited to support the continued success of Element Philadelphia Downtown as part of the broader portfolio," added Adel.

With more than 22 years of international hospitality experience, Adel has built a distinguished career across Marriott's global portfolio. He began his journey at Sheraton Soma Bay in Egypt, where he quickly advanced from Guest Services Agent to Assistant Revenue Manager within four years. He later served as Director of Revenue for Marriott's lifestyle brands, including Le Méridien Seychelles and W Doha, before continuing to grow within the W Hotels brand in leadership roles that blend operational excellence with elevated guest experiences.
