RAR Hospitality Completes Phase One of Renovation to Carlsbad by the Sea

RAR Hospitality, a full-spectrum hospitality management firm based in Southern California managed the renovation and re-brand of coastal independent property, Carlsbad by the Sea. The $2 million renovations began in the fall of 2017 and phase one is now complete with elevated hotel and room accommodations, improved guest experiences and new dining offerings in partnership with Windmill Food Hall.

"We look forward to offering our guests an enhanced, elevated experience with the addition of new programming and upgraded accommodations."

The hotel upgrades include the following:

Lobby

A renewed welcome area with an open design concept and three check-in and guest services pods.

Guest rooms

The 145-room hotel implemented extensive interior upgrades to six buildings, adding two new guest room types including deluxe rooms and executive suites, new furniture, light fixtures, flooring and upgraded bathrooms.

Pool area and exterior

The pool area is refreshed with new pool furniture including cabanas for large groups and families. Design updates to the hotel exterior include murals of Carlsbad landmarks hand painted by local artist, Anh Pham and a refreshed courtyard as well as landscaping have been added to the 20-acre property.

Dining

Carlsbad by the Sea will have an exclusive food and beverage partnership with Windmill Food Hall, a 44,000 square-foot, two-story windmill building turned food hall that is within walking distance of the property. Hotel guests will be able to experience local fare and beverages, from gourmet lobster sandwiches and ice cream to Korean hot pots and craft coffee. Guests can look forward to in-room dining featuring a menu curated by Windmill Food Hall as well as catering menu for large groups and events. Carlsbad by the Sea will also be partnering with the food hall and Wedgewood Weddings to provide a wedding suite and room block opportunities in 2020.

Hotel activities

Carlsbad by the Sea Hotel will become the headquarters to outdoor adventures by rolling out enhanced hotel programming with recreational and experiential activities like golf, brewery tours, kayaking, biking, gondola rides on Lake San Marcos and family surf lessons. The property provides bike and yoga mat rentals and beach necessities such as towels and chairs for rent. Complimentary shuttle service and discounted tickets are available to nearby attractions and entertainment centers such as LEGOLAND California Theme Park and Carlsbad Village.

Operated by RAR Hospitality, Carlsbad by the Sea was constructed by TCB Builders and design was spearheaded by JCJ Architecture.

The hotel is in close proximity to family attractions such as LEGOLAND California Theme Park and Sea Life Aquarium, the best beaches in Carlsbad and Encinitas, and McClellan-Palomar Airport.
