OD Hotels Acquires Cavalière Sur Plage Hotel on the French Riviera for EUR 11 Million ($36M)
Balearic boutique hotel group OD Hotels has finalized the purchase of the Cavalière Sur Plage Hotel on the French Riviera with plans to renovate and open OD Cote d'Azur in 2019. Just under 20 miles from Saint-Tropez, the property will be the group's sixth hotel and the first one to be located outside of Spain. Led by Marc Rahola, OD Hotels made the purchase for 11 Million Euros (approximately $36 Million USD).
OD Hotels specializes in the renovation of abandoned buildings in unbeatable locations bringing in a cosmopolitan character, art-centric philosophy, and commitment to sustainability. The collection also expects to expand outside Europe to Miami in the next two years.
Advanced Mediterranean luxury
OD Cote d'Azur will be built over the old Cavalière Sur Plage Hotel (an Ibersol group hotel) and will open its doors in 2019. OD Hotels will undertake an ambitious renovation and expansion project between the winter of 2018 and the start of 2019, the outcome of which will be a boutique hotel located right on the seafront. It will feature 71 rooms, direct views of the Mediterranean Sea, pool, rooftop sky bar, smart cars for guests staying in a suite as a hotel courtesy, beach restaurant, private beach, and beach club, among other facilities and services.
OD Cote d'Azur will carry the DNA of the Ibiza enterprise — reflecting the spirit of Bauhaus, Le Corbusier and the Mediterranean — and a philosophy based on discovering the best in the destination, exquisite art and functional design, and sustainability.
“We're very satisfied and excited about this deal. This will be our first hotel abroad and there couldn't be a better place than Saint-Tropez as it brings together all the values of OD Hotels — a Mediterranean spirit, fabulous location, design, art, respect for the environment and a very enriching cosmopolitan character. We're convinced that it will be warmly welcomed and we're excited to see it up and running," states Marc Rahola, CEO and founder of OD Hotels.
An 'arty' and inclusive hotel
Just like its Spanish counterparts, one of the distinguishing features of the OD Cote d'Azur will be its art and design. The hotel will host art exhibits and events open to guests and the community.
The arrival of OD Cote d'Azur will provide an unexpected twist to the accommodation offered in such an iconic location for European tourism, where the traditional concept of luxury and sophistication will be complemented by progressive ideas in tourism which OD Hotels and Rahola himself have made their trademark.
