Sheraton Panama City Beach Golf & Spa Resort Welcomes David Griffin as Director of Sales & Marketing
Northwest Florida's most celebrated resort, Sheraton Panama City Beach Golf & Spa Resort (formerly known as Sheraton Bay Point Resort), proudly introduces David Griffin as its new director of sales & marketing, selected to lead all sales and marketing efforts as the iconic destination unveils a complete restoration and new name following the October 2018 impact of Hurricane Michael. Griffin brings nearly 35 years of hospitality experience, touting an impressive career with time spent in both the operational/general manager and sales & marketing capacities.
"David's impressive history of motivating sales teams and significantly growing group production, as well as overall revenue generation made him a natural fit to lead the reintroduction of Sheraton Panama City Beach Resort," says Matt Sutherland, general manager. "We're thrilled to have him on-board as we showcase the rebirth of an icon and once again welcome guests to the only AAA Four Diamond-rated resort in the Panama City Beach destination."
Starting in hospitality as a sales manager for Marriott, Griffin's innate ability to connect with his customers and motivate his team quickly catapulted his career into leadership roles. Spending nearly a decade with Destination Hotels and Resorts, Griffin led teams at Skamania Lodge, Portland, Ore., and Paradise Point Hotel and Spa, San Diego, Calif., where he was recognized with both Sales Leader of the Year (2011) and Sales Team of the Year (2013) awards. Most recently, Griffin served as director of sales & marketing at Loews Hotels Minneapolis, remarkably growing both group pace and ADR during his tenure with the metropolitan hotel. Griffin holds a Bachelor of Journalism in Advertising from the University of Missouri. He is also noted for his community and industry involvement, serving on tourism boards and associations throughout his career.
"I'm excited to join the team as Sheraton Panama City Beach is returned back to its peak," says Griffin. "The perseverance of this community, as well as the impressive offerings of this coastal resort drew me to the destination, and I look forward to bringing new groups and guests to experience the unmatched hospitality of Sheraton Panama City Beach Resort."
